Brief Description:  Trial fit rudder and masked interior.

I decided to trial fit the rudder assembly based on some posts by other builders reporting fit problems. Figured it was better to do it now while the fuselage is open and accessable in case there were any issues. The fit turned out to be fine as far as the holes lining up and the clearances etc, however the bolts appear to be a tad long. With the hardware as specified they bottom out in the nutplates before the mounting blocks are tight against the shelf. After several times off and on I ended up with two full sized washers under the bolt heads, and one thick and one thin between the block sections. Really glad I did this because it was much easier now than later. However, it took all morning.

This afternoon I masked the fuselage for interior paint. What a tedious job! Completed all sections except the center section where the wings attach. Can't quite decide where to apply the interior paint and where to leave it just primed. Roughed up and cleaned, then primed the floor section which is the inside of the bottom skin. Didn't think to prime this before when it would have been easier. Sprayed interior paint on the section of the baggage compartment floor that will be under the tank as a test.
