Brief Description: Worked on instrument panels and map box.
Spent a lot of time today trying for a good fit for the map box door. Used double backed tape to temporarily mount the door hinges. When I got it right I marked the holes and drilled the ends. It fit perfectly so I match drilled all the rest of the holes, deburred everything, and painted all the front panels and the door with Rustoleum Textured in black. I like the finish - a little rough and non-glare but I think smooth enough to hold stick-on labels and the like. Riveted the box together and installed the Camlock latch. Next I will assemble the whole panel and map box. I am going to mount all the panels using screws rather than rivets, so have to work that out, hardware wise.
Got word late in the day that our dear friend Jack, who I taught to fly at the age of 70, is nearly at the end of his life. We'll be going there in the morning.
