Brief Description:  Worked on canopy ribs.

This morning I cut two more 1 5/8 pieces of what I thought was the 1X1 angle stock for the strut attach angles. Son of a gun, it turned out to be .75 X .75. FINALLY found the right stock in one of my small parts drawers. Van's had sent two pieces just slightly longer than the 1 5/8, so still had to saw them to correct length. Marked them for the drilling and finished fabricating. Retrieved the rest of the parts for Page 29-04 and deburred, then primed.

Took time out to change the oil in my tractor, snowblower, and generator. Had lunch and then got up on the roof to blow off the leaves and then did the final leave-blow of the fall.

Went back to the shop to do some assembly. I can't believe it took me 2 hours to do a step and a half! In my humble opinion there are way too many steps within steps on this page. It would be very easy to miss something. For example, when I got to the sub-step to install the nutplates on the flanges of the canopy ribs the rivet holes had not been countersunk. Looked back and found that in Step 5 it had said to countersink the holes in the flanges. I thought that meant the bottom flange, not the top flange too. Anyway, no harm done as I was able to easily countersink the remaining holes. Clecoed the nutplates in place and now I'm ready to rivet those nutplates in.
