Got to thinking one of the problems contributing to the longeron fiasco was the lack of a really flat work surface to line up with the top of the longerons. My old workbench is made of bowling alley wood, and is real flat, but it was covered with a bunch of tools, parts, drill press, and just plain junk. I decided not to work on the plane today, and instead build some new shelves on the wall by the door so I can clear the workbench for a real work space. Accomplished that using materials on hand, including boards from the Van's crates.
