Brief Description:  Closed up tailcone.

Several of my "fans" have let me know they missed the updates while I was away on vacation. Well here are some new pictures. Today I got back to the project after catching up on the backed-up desk work yesterday. I had already prepared the top skin and small parts some time ago, so today saw a LOT of clecoing and riveting. Marty had sent me some pictures of slight bumps in the 1279 upper skins where they fasten to the 1210 frame. Sure enough, I had the same little bumps. I un-clecoed the skin but the bumps remained, apparently having already "set" into the metal. I decided any attempts to flatten them would only make a mess, and I don't think they will show anyway once the airplane is painted. Everything else today went well, with good fits. Next work session will see the completion of the tailcone riveting, and the start of empennage attachment. Now the assembly starts to get much BIGGER and I will have to decide how to support the project while assembling it, and how I will store it when completed. The boat may have to go out into the snow! Van's informed me that my wing kit will be shipped in about 2 weeks, so the timing looks good.
