Brief Description:  More tweaks, 25 hour inspection.

Since my last entry I have flown some passenger hops, taken the '12 on its first cross-country to New Jersey, and worked on remaining minor issues.

I think I solved the problem of the Dynon compass having old fashioned "Dip" errors. A couple of exchanges with Dynon Tech Support prompted me to check my original parameter settings, and I discovered I had entered the wrong value in the MAGINT field. I fixed that yesterday and now I have to re-calibrate on the ground and test fly.

I have continued to try and get a more accurate fuel flow reading on the Dynon. Worked with Dynon Support to learn how to use the RETRN parameter. Now have RETRN set to 130000 and the K factor set to 79000. Probably more refinement to come.

Over the course of the past week I removed the cowling and performed the 25 hour checks (from the 100 hour checklist.) Learned how to do a few new things like slip clutch checks, spark plug service, and of course oil changes. Installed the oil tank quick drain. Checked prop pitch, still good. Yesterday finished the firewall forward chores, recowled, and did a final prop balance with Ed. Final IPS numbers as follows:

Pre-balance: Info coming.
After first session, no spinner: Info coming.
Spinner reinstalled: Info coming.
At completion: Info coming.

Flew a test flight with Ed - engine/prop vibrations levels markedly reduced!

Still have to do some control surface lubing, make some logbook entries, and clean up the airplane - bug season here!

The '12 was still apart for the first pancake breakfast of the season, had to ride down in the back seat of Mark's SNJ, on Dave's wing. Oh gosh, what a sacrifice!
