This morning I checked the vacuum tubes, found the reason for the out-of-balance condition noted yesterday on the Carbmate. One of my tubing connections was not tight enough.
Removed the safety wire and gascolator mounting screws. Bowl would not come off and I was afraid of breaking something so I called Van's and they said a tight fit is normal. Applied more pressure and got it off. There was a very minor amount of debris in the bowl. Drained all the rest of the fuel from the tank and reinstalled and safetied gascolator bowl. Had a heck of a time with the safety wire but Pete came to the rescue.
After lunch I installed the lower cowl. Pete and Carol dropped in and once again he was a big help in getting the oil cooler positioned and bolted in. I installed all the pins and screws, then installed the upper cowling.
Weigh-in is scheduled for Monday, and the real exciting news is that the certification inspection is scheduled for next Friday!
