Brief Description:  Worked on fitting the tail cone.

Went up to the shop about noon, and Carolyn went with me to help with mounting the rudder. I then put the cone halves together and did the up/down alignment looking at the clearance to the bottom of the rudder.

Got the stabilator out of storage and propped it up the same level as the tail. Struggled for a while with those darn mounting bolts, finally called Carolyn up again to help. We both struggled some more and eventually got the stab mounted. Did the left/right alignment and put in the second pair of clecos.

Found that the stabilator would not clear the tailcone. Came to the house and did some research on VAF. Put out a query and got an almost immendiate response from Tony T. in Seattle that he had the same problem and ended up trimming 1/8" off the stabilator metal. With that confirmation I returned to the shop and marked the upper skin for trimming, which I did with Dremel cutoff wheel and files/sandpaper. Upper skin now clears, but lower catches.

Reluctantly removed the stabilator, flipped it and marked for trimming. Now I can look forward to remounting the stabilator. Oh joy!
