Brief Description:  Continued work on cooling duct & miscellaneous.

Laid up first ply of #2 exhaust cutout using three strips of fiberglass cloth. Used the fast catalyst and set the duct in front of a heater. It hardened in short order and I used the dremel to trim the rough edges. Then applied two more layers of glass to the bottom side and one to the top. Set aside to harden.

Removed the AN3-4 bolt holding the brake line clamp and replaced it with the AN-14A and standoff spacer that I cut from left over stock. This went quite well despite being hard to reach. This was a recent change to the plans. Wasn't a mandated change, but I think worth doing.

Installed the cooling shroud and vent pipe that came with the lighting kit. Easy install. Used the black RTV that I picked up at Oshkosh.

By then the epoxy was hard and I again used the Dremel to rough trim the excess cloth and epoxy. Put the whole lower cowl assembly together to check fit. I now have good clearance for the #2 exhaust spring. I wish I had elongated the bulge a little farther forward to increase the clearance from the header pipe. I will have to decide if I should mod the mod before I glue the duct to the lower cowl.

Mixed a small batch of epoxy and microballoons and slathered the top and bottom of the modification. When dry I will sand smooth, especially the bottom, which will show inside the air scoop. I plan to paint the inside of the duct with high temp black paint before asssembly.
