Took laptop to shop. Andy got the power cord. Hooked up the serial port plug to the laptop USB port with the adaptor. Backed up 5.1.1 software, installed 5.3.1 software to all four units. D180, AP74, two servos. All went fine. Procedures worked good with me reading, Andy pushing buttons. Helps here to have two people to confirm actions.
