Brief Description: Worked on oil and cooling systems.
Tried to seperate the radiator heater door that I RTVed yesterday. Had a terrible time getting it free, and when I did I found that the RTV had not completely cured, and the wax really didn't work. Big mess. Cleaned all the RTV off and tried again. This time I REALLY roughed up the door with 80 grit paper, and used waxed paper as well as car wax on the firewall where the RTV is not supposed to stick. Put a heater under it to promote curing, which I will leave on all weekend before making another attempt to open the door.
Installed the heater cockpit control and cable. Discovered discrepancy between the old parts and the new instructions on Page 49-05.
Installed the oil reservior vent tube. Had a HECK of a time fastening the clamp to the gascolator bolt. Boy, that could sure use a redesign! Nearly impossible to get at the head of the bolt once the clamp is seated on it.
Fabricated the assembly that surrounds the oil cooler. Ready to mount in cooling duct. Trimmed the cooling duct to scribe lines using Dremel and 80 grit paper. Same for duct interface.
