Brief Description:  Fuel system cleaning.

Set up container and strainer funnel under right quickdrain, repeatedly flushed tank with sprayer. Got a lot of debris and bugs out. See photo. Used camera to verify there is a coarse screen in the tank outflow that apparently kept the bugs and larger debris from proceeding downstream. Repeated for left wing, very little debris. Removed gascolator dome, found only minor amount of foreign objects in screen. Noted there is no spring in place, where IPC calls for one to hold down the filter element. Will try to find replacement. Removed carburetor screen. Almost no debris.

Removed cowling (Sam help). Tried to find latest oil leak, that left a small puddle on floor overnight. There are several wet spots, but most suspicious is the area around the #1 cylinder. Forward underside of crankcase also wet. An actual drop hanging off bottom of generator.

Got cold in hangar, went home. Next steps are to find a spring for the gascolator, reassemble that and carb screen, reinstall quickdrains, and refill tanks. This will be a good time to add a gallon at a time and calibrate the “stick” gauge. Then retorque all crankcase and cylinder bolts, clean engine, and make a ground run to once again try to find leak(s).
