Over the weekend I checked the Univair website to see how much it would cost if we had to replace the one lift strut that seems to be bowed. To my surprise it turns out there is a left and right version with different part number suffices. The stampings were lost in the sanding/painting. Yesterday we had a meeting of the brain trust and decided we must have installed the struts on the wrong sides, accounting for the difficulty in fitting them and the jury struts.
Bill and Jeanne and I propped up the wings with ladders and swapped the struts, with a lot of difficulty getting some of those tight-fitting bolts back out. The results were satisfying, in that we now have a correct fit, and the jury struts look much better as well.
I fabricated and installed mounting brackets on the new right-hand vent tube.
We discussed windshield fit and marked for trimming.
