Brief Description:  Research at home, pitot/static.

Researched pitot/static system history on C120/140 website. Original static tube next to pitot tube in wing proved troublesome in early airplanes. Cessna issued a letter to dealers dated March 7, 1947 recommending that only the airspeed indicator be hooked up to the static line, and the other instruments be vented to cabin pressure.Shortly thereafter Cessna removed the static port from the wing on production aircraft, and instead began using a static port on the side of the airplane. This prompts the decision to only run a pitot line through the wing and to the root on our airplane. When we restore the fuselage we will install a static port on the side. Also today, found a Cessna template for the configuration of the pitot tube as it protrudes through the wing leading edge. I printed the drawing to scale, and attached to cardboard backing for use in placing tube correctly on wing.
