Brief Description:  Winch Installation on Trailer

The loading winch is now installed on the trailer. This took much longer than expected, but it came out great. I used a mounting bracket designed for an ATV, but with a little creative planning, I was able to make it work for a trailer mount. The only frustration was that it took FOUR trips to the hardware store to get all the bolts, nuts, and washers I needed. They are the very expensive hardened bolts, so they are very expensive and didn’t want to end up with a lot of extras.

I also mounted he relay box on the trailer and clamped the wires into place. The power for the unit comes from a portable 12-volt power source that can be removed during transportation. The winch is mounted on the rear of the trailer since the helicopter is loaded from the tongue side with ramps. The winch looks like it’s supposed to be there rather than an add-on.
