Won an eBay auction for a X-Y milling table for my drill press. $71.06. More expensive than building a jig to cut the slot for the 1/8" ply aileron/flap spar web, but why pass up the opportunity to buy a new tool?I am considering building the Friese ailerons/flaps the way the Fowler's are shown in the plans. The Friese plans have the 1/8" ply running the full length of the control surface with the 5/16" x ¾" spruce runners filling the space between the ribs.The Fowler plans show the ribs notched to allow runners to run the full length of the control surface with the ply cut to fit the space between the ribs.For my skill set, it looks like it would be easier to position and cut a notch in the edge of a rib for the spruce runners rather than milling a slot for the plywood spar web.
