Brief Description: Cutting form blocks for rudder ribs
Built a jig to cut the tapered forming blocks for the rudder ribs.
The 3 ribs taper from the 1 inch rudder spar to the 1/2 inch rudder bow and are 3 different lengths.
After building the push guide, I attached a 1/2 inch tall block about 1 inch from the push block. From the rear of the 1/2 inch block (where the wood will rest) I measured and marked the lengths of R4, R5 and R6 called for in the plans.
Starting with the longest rib R5, glued and braded a 1 inch tall block on to the marked push guide. I cut the taper for R5 and then removed that block. I then attached the block at the mark for R4 and cut that taper. Since the R6 rib was apx. 7 inches shorter than R4, I simply glued and braded another 1 inch tall block to the push guide.
