Brief Description:  Countersink & Prime spars, rivet platenuts

Using a peice of scrap flat bar again, I set the countersink cage for a diameter of just under 0.3125" (5/16ths) and countersunk all the #6 holes on both spars accordingly. I continuedto used the match drilled flat bar for all these holes and was once again more than happy with the result.

I then re-adjusted the countersink cage for the flush AN426AD3 platenut rivets and countersunk all the rivet holes for both the #8 and #6 platenuts on both spars - with a bit of a "methodical mindset", it's over before you know (albeit that time passed faster than you realised! ;) ).

Not wanting to spray primer over the entire spar flange and destroy this beautiful gold lustre (yeah, I know it'll be covered up but still!) I airbrushed the primer onto the exposed aluminium of each countersink - worked like a charm! I actually think it was also probably quicker then it would have been to set up the spray table, HVLP gun etc. Com out just fine in my opinion.

I then set up the platenuts ready for rivetting on one of the flanges and started rivetting the platenuts to the spar using the pneumatic squeezer. All went quick and easy until I got to the angled platenuts. The huge rivets which attach the spar doublers to the spar web got in the way of the the standard yoke I was using so I needed to change the yoke to get in there. As it was already very late, I thought it best to leave it all just like that and continue on tomorrow - don't wanna do something I regret later - especially when it comes to the spars!
