Brief Description: RD: Manufactured R-716 and R-717
Manufactured the R-716 bottom tip attachment strips and the R-717 shim for the rudder's internal structure.
Both were manufactured from .032 sheet provided as part of the trim bundle in the kit. I very nearly used this stuff to play with whilst getting used to all the tools and beding and riveting etc. Very glad I left the relevant pieces required alone as I would not have had the correct lengths of the correct thicknesses for the manufacturing.
Another point to note: When measuring the skin thickness with a vernier or calliper, be sure to remove all the plastic from the area being measured or your manufactured part will be too thin once you finally remove the protective plastic! Don't ask me how I know this! ;)
