Brief Description:  L-HS Tip: Prep and glass in rear "face"

I measured, marked out and drilled the holes to attach the L-HS Tip to the HS. I then fitted the L-Elevator to the HS and used it (and the already trimmed HS skin) as a guide to mark out the HS Tip length. Used a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel to trim the HS tip down to size. Using a rotary sanding drum on the dremel tool again, I removed gelcoat from the HS Tip wherever new glass might be to assist in acheiving a secure bond.

I then measured, cut out and sanded to shape a peice of extruded polystyrene to make a "plug for the HS tip rear face I then strapped a piece of sandpaper to the forward part of the R-Elev counter balance skin as it already had the correct contour. Using that surface, I sanded a concave shape into the ploystyrene plug and finished it up with a by hand.

Once I was happy with the shape of the plug, I didn't want to go through the gooey mess that resulted from "dissolving" the ploystyrene with petrol, so I coverly covered any areas that may be exposed to resin with box tape and used pins (yes, dress making pins) to secure the plug in place as the box tape made it a tad slippery (we don't want it to move mid layup now do we!).

I then did two layups of glass and covered with cling film and held it all in place with an elastic band to stop the edges lifting. Left to cure.
