Brief Description:  L-Elev: Rolling leading edge

I started by clamping down the elevator to the work surface using a clank and some G-clamps - clamping down enough to make sure that nothing moves but ensuring the spar (or any other part) is not distorted by the pressure.

I then used the same procedure as with the Rudder (i.e. 1" dia. glavanised pipe, Vice Grip and duct tape). I had forgotten how much "grunt" was required to fold the tabs evenly (and would swear that maybe the elevators needed a bit more - maybe due to their narrower diameter). It actually took quite a number of iterative attempts to get it all to a point where I was happy - i.e. all cleco'ed together with no gaping between any of the clecos - even required careful use of the handseamer from time to time. Also made sure that the tap skin folded over the bottom to make sure that the joints shed water.

Once the entire leading edge was cleco'ed up with no gaps, I would start somewhere in the middle of a tab, remove the cleco, drill to #30, deburr with the Cogsdill and pull the rivet. Then repeating the process moving progressively outward to the edges of the tab. Prior to removing the "edge-most" cleco from as tab though, I would first put a litlle clamp in place to make sure everything remained in place when drilling, deburring and rivetting.

A lot of elbow grease later, the left elevator is all done, edges rolled - only fiberglass work left - whoohoo!
