Brief Description:  RD: Pro-sealed and closed-up

Managed to get the chance to duck out yesterday (Saturday) and buy a digital kitchen scale which should be more than accurate enough to accurately measure and mix the pro-seal parts.

Finally got the chance to use it today and began my first foray into what most other deam the "pro-seal nightmare". Yes it's messy and more than just a tad odourous but it didn't seem as bad to me... maybe because I was expecting much worse due to all the negative "press" on the topic. Granted too that I'm not sealing the fuel tanks with the stuff yet either! ;)

Adding the pro-seal to the trailing edge of each stiffener went fairly quickly and painlessly. I used a long dowel and twirled some pro-seal around the tip thereof (as you would with a teaspoon of honey). I would put enough on the tip so that I would ultimately need to apply twice to each location which kept the little ball of pro-seal on the tip small enough that it could easily be maneuvered into position without accidentally touching other locations unwanted! Once I started, I was finished pro-sealing in about 20 minutes... quick and easy!

Once I had finished pro-sealing, I cleco'd the skin to the understraucture and started riveting the rudder closed. I first did all the 3-4 rivets and then the 3-3.5 rivets. With the assistance of the longeron and no-hole yolks, I managed to use solid rivets on all location save the trailing most hole on the bottom rib. Here, the bottom tip attachment strips further hindered the already very limited space which then resulted in my opting to use the optional pop-rivet as called out in the plans.

So far though, the rudder is straight and flat in all the right areas and I'm very happy with the results. All that remains now is to roll and rivet the leading edge and fit the hinges (given too that I plan on waiting with all the fibergalss work and do all the empennage fiberglass work at the same time).

New digital scale. I mixed about 60 grams in total and this is what I was left with.
