Really bummed with myself. Made my first genuine stuff-up today!
I started riveting the ribs to the forward VS spar as directed. VS706 and VS707 were riveted to the forward spar quite happily. So too was the 1st rivet joining VS704 (rib) to VS702 (front spar) to VS705 (nose rib).
Because of the angle between 702 and 705, I inadvertantly moved 705 when riveting which made a gap between the 705 flange and the 702 web, neccesitating the removal of the rivet. No problem, done it before... wrong!
Somehow, I managed to drill completely skew when removing the rivet which ended in there being a figure 8 shaped hole after wrestling the rivet out!!! **RANT** **RAVE** **FUME**
I s'pose the best would be to enlarge to whole and bung in a larger rivet. Fortunately there seems to be adequate edge clearance... only problem is I don't have a rivet so I'm hoping my friend (Dawie) can come to the rescue.
About to squeeze the offending rivet
The offending hole
Same hole with a rivet stuck through it. The rivet head visible through the hole.
