Brief Description: Installed stick grips and adjusted torque tubes
We re-installed the pilot and co-pilot sticks. When the grips were installed, they contacted the panel in the most forward position. The construction manual calls for a down elevator of 20-25 degrees and up elevator of 25-30 degrees (min/max). In order to achieve the midpoints of these settings it was necessary to cut the bottom of the control stick by 2" and re-drill the attachment hole. In addition, the grips were installed as low as possible for comfort reasons. The control torque tubes were adjusted to achieve the appropiate travel limits. In addition, 2 elevator stops were fabricated from 2 pieces of 3/4 angle stock, which were mounted on the horizontal stab using the lower two attachment bolts for the inboard hinge bracket assy. These act as stops by contacting the wd605 elevator horns to prevent the control stick from hitting the instrument panel at the max down limit. The idea was stolen from Deems Davis's build site. The sticks were removed to facilitate installing the interior and working under the panel.
