Brief Description:  Drilling the VS bottom bracket - Part 2

Continued ->

I have now successfullt repaired the misaligned hole. The hole is drilled strainght, but for AN3 bolt. I successfully was able to use a MS21042-3 all metal lock nut. The plans call for AN4 bolts. The other 2 holes have been successfully drilled for AN4.

Back to Vans - they are really helpful by the way.

Further to the below email (context) and earlier attached photos, I have now finalised the fitting of the three key bolts mentioned. I was able to straighten the bolt that was problemtic earlier.

However, I was only able to fit an AN3 bolt in this location (top left).

The other 2 bolts (bottom and top right) are AN4 as specified.

Wil this be satisfactory? I attach the finished photo as 20191224_140516.jpg.

I think you should make every effort to install the AN4 in this position as this area undergoes a high level of stress during normal operation. I would consider that modifying the bolt/nut slightly to fit will be better than using the AN3 here.

OK, so next step is to make this an AN4 hole. If I aligne correctly an MS21042-4 all metal lock nut should fit nicely.
