Well, it has been almost 6 months since I have actually accomplished anything with the project. Yesterday and today, I checked off 3 tasks. 1. I finished the spinner. It is drilled and wobble free. 2. I finished the crankcase breather tube. This has been bugging me. I finally come up with something I can live with. 3. I trimmed the Wing-Fuselage gap fairing. It turned out pretty good. It was a lot easier than I had figured on.
Finally, I ran the engine for ~20 minutes. The oil temps got up to 197 and then backed off to 195. At idle, I checked the spinner to see if there was any discernable wobble, looks good. I did a full RPM check in search of the elusive magic high speed stop adjustment. I did the first check back in November, 2800 rpm, adjust 3/4 turn clockwise. Second run in March yielded 2710 rpm. Today, I made a 1/4 turn clockwise adjustment. The full throttle run was 2610. I guess I'll back off 1/8 turn. Just a little closer, if not on the high side of 2650 rpm is my goal.
