Brief Description:  Aileron Leading Edge

This is my first KitLog entry in a long time. I had an unfortunate mishap while home brewing and nearly took off my left arm. That was Feb 1, ambulance, surgery, rehab, PT, etc. But I'm back to work on N127KT.

My friend Cliff came over and helped me work on the leading edge of my ailerons. We started by clecoing the ribs the spar, then I placed the flat side of the skin against the flat side of the rib and clecoed them together. This was to hold the end ribs at the correct angle/alignment to be able to get the proper spacing to mark the bottom hole for the water pipe. We then removed the pipe, center punched the hole and then used the drill press to drill the holes.

We then put the pipe onto the end ribs and fit the skin the proper way. Each hole on the pipe was marked through the skin onto the pipe. We then removed the pipe again and center punched and drilled with an #40. We reassembled and then final drilled the skin to the pipe with an 1/8th inch bit to accommodate the CS4-4 pop rivets.

While it was assembled we drilled the skin to end ribs and the rib to spar.

A great first post accident work session!
