Brief Description:  Riveting the rudder stiffeners

Today I worked with pro-seal for the first time. I decided to put it on the stiffeners to try and prevent cracking of the thinner rudder skin over time. Even if it doesn't help it was a small effort and less than 50grams of weight added to the tail.

Working with the ProSeal wasn't too bad, I looked around on VAF and got some good tips:

Lots of spare gloves. <- this was key for me, I went through 5 pairs a side, and 2 pairs each time I mixed the proseal
Get everything ready to go ahead of time
work in small batches(one golf ball size, 50g of A, 5g of B)
mask off anything you don't want proseal on
have a rag close by to wipe off your tools

Back riveting went well, there was one occurrence were I didn't have the plate under the rivet and the rivet gun pushed the rivet into the MDF bench top. Luckily it didn't damage the skin. I may consider turning my back riveting plate 90 degrees to get more rivets on the plate at one time while supporting all the rudder.

I had some troubles with a few of the rivets closest to the bend. If they were structural I would consider drilling them out, but since they are in the thin skin of the rudder I felt I would do a lot more damage taking them out and replacing them.
