Brief Description: Pitot mast drill and support bracket
I drilled the holes in the pitot mast for the screws that hold the probe in. I started by taking measurements and then after marking I drilled very small holes. This was a good thing as the curve of the mast and the fit of the parts made it difficult to drill on center. The hole was off by a few 64ths so I used a very small round file to move the hole over. Once moved I then placed a machine screw to verify the placement. I used it's measurements for the other 3 holes. Once the holes were drilled and verified I then coutnersunk the holes.
Next I used a piece of left over angle to create a support bracket on the rear of the pitot mast, this may be overkill, but I was concerned about the flex that I saw. I used s long peice of 3/4 inch angle across the ribs to simulate the skin and secure the mast in the correct position. I marked and drilled the angle on my work bench, placed it on the mast and the rib, then clampled the parts together. I then removed the mast and match drilled the holes, placed it back in the wing and drilled the ribe to angle holes. I counter sunk the rivets in the mast so that they would sit flush under the skin.
