Brief Description:  Misc tank work

I only had 30min to work on the plane today. I setup the pnuematic squeezer with the deepest yoke I have to be able to rivet the tank drain. I also file down two of the rivets around the fuel filler neck. This was much less trouble than I expected.

I put a piece of blue masking tape over the rivet head, using my finger nail I cirlced the rivet to press the tape down to the skin to reduce th amount of metal filings that get below the tape. I then took a medium-fine toothed file and ground down the head until the file appraoched the skin. At that point I switched to a fine and very small file. I continued to file it down until the file started to cut into the tape. I stopped at this point, the next step is to get a stone to clean up the tools marks.

These rivets will eventually get a vinyl decal around the fuel cap with capacitty and fuel type labels.

The other item I took care of was grinding out a small half moon shape on the edge of the fuel tank access panels so that they will clear the BNC connectors as the amphebol connectors I have are a little larger than the spec.
