Brief Description:  Riveted nutplates to the spar and fit inner most Z

Today I riveted the 6 nutplates to the spar to hold the inner most z bracket on either side(the other Z brackets have the nutplates on them). As I tried to fit one of the z brackets I realized it must have slipped during drilling and was not aligning properly. I had 1 spare, so I used the center hole to match the existing piece and then drilled the outer two holes on the z bracket by match drilling from the spar side. After a quick shot of primer it was ready to dry while I worked on the rest.

Returning to the nutplates I rivets them to the spar being extra carefull. I used a mushroom head on the top of the spar and my tungsten bucking bar from the under side. I didn't have any trouble holding on to the bar, but followed the advice of others to the put a rag on the lower spar in case I should drop it. I also wrapped all the corners in gorilla tape to prevent them from marring the spar. After the nutplates were rivetted on I attatched the 2 Z brackets.

When attaching the left inner most Z bracket I had trouble getting a socket to clear the head of the bolt and the web of the bracket. After some questions to VAF it will be ok, I can get to it with a crow foot wrench and can torque it to spec without a problem.
