The different length screws are to pick the best length. I also always order a spare screw/grommet/etc because for the small additional cost it is a time saver when one comes that is not servicable or one gets lost etc.

Also got a good tip that the top of the rudder where the antenna will be mounted is out in the breeze when the rudder is turned. Had not thought about this previously so will need to build a cover of some type to protect the vertical stabilizer as well as waterproof any holes drilled through the top of the VS.
