Brief Description:  Old Photos

Going through some old photos, I found some photos of a Luscombe 8A that I used to have a 1/2 share in back in the UK.

The photos were taken at Rochester airport in Kent, England.

It was an 1946 Luscombe 8A
Continental A65, 65hp
No electrics, so it was a hand throw ( I got lots of practice, and became very good at it)
About a 95 mph cruise, and 45 stall
No flaps.

It was a too small for me, being 6ft 6ins tall. But it was my first aeroplane ownership.

I'm expecting my '8' to be much more comfortable, and much much faster. I didn't fly it much as it used to kill my back, so flights tended to be limited to my personal endurance which was about 45-55 minutes. I'm expecting to fly a lot longer in the '8'.

And who knows, in the latest 'Kitplanes' mag a guy flew his '8' from CA to England.........You never know, maybe one day.
