Brief Description:  F-741 Tunnel Cover

Last night after cleaning up the shop I decided I didn’t have enough, so I went to work on the tunnel cover. I measured carefully to drill the first holes in the F-741A to the floor. There are no pilot holes other then the nut plate hole so you have to be very precise in your measuring. I hit them dead nuts. The plans indicate you should fit the F-741B cover to the supports that are cleco’d to the floor. I found that if I laid the cover plate on the supports that were on the floor there was a slight mismatch. I decided to drill and cleco the cover to the supports on the workbench instead to get the perfect match of the sides of the supports to the cover. I figured I could flex the supports slightly to fit the nut plate holes on the floor. This approach worked very well. I drill the forward end of the cover plate to the forward floor and installed the nut plate. After everything was fitted nicely I riveted the cover to the supports. The middle 2 holes I had to back rivet since my squeezer would not reach these. So far…so good. I am going to move on to the forward covers and then the electric flap actuator.
