Saturday was a big day starting the engine that I hung on the plane nearly 7 years ago. I have been keeping the engine well preserved by oiling the cylinders with preservative oil and changing the desiccant often in the dehydrator plugs. But still after all those years I had some trepidation. I tied the tail to my truck and used an extensive check list that I created. My friend Rob Humble assisted me using his handheld radio. I ran the engine for 12 minutes which was probably longer than I should have but all systems were "Go" and the cylinder head temperatures were okay, never getting higher than 330 degrees. I check oil pressure, oil temperature, CHT, EGT, Mag drop, Mixture, cycled the prop 3 times and checked the idle. Mag drop was 100 for each mag so very little difference between mags.The engine idled at 600 RPM. Bus voltage read 13.9 on the GT-50 and 14.1 on the JPI. Everything was okay except that the amp meter would jump when I hit the push to talk button. Must have some RF interence? Need to investigate.
