Brief Description:  Forward fuselage

Today I riveted most of the upper forward fuselage together. I had to leave one end unriveted to allow installation into the plane. There were some rivets I had a difficult time reaching with my hand squeezer so out came the gun and bucking bar. I had to drill out about 6 different rivets, as I really didn’t like the quality. Once I was satisfied with the rivet job, I sprayed primer over the rivets to seal their fate forever, so to speak. I also cleco’d on the most forward top skin to make sure everything still went together since the riveting of the sub- panel. I thought I would have to make a small spacer for the gap between the firewall and the F-643-1 fuselage channel (rib) as experienced with the other times I assembled the forward skin. To my surprise the rib fit perfectly against the firewall. I guess the riveting of the forward fuselage section must have aligned things together nicely? Tomorrow I will paint the tip-up frame and the a couple of cabin covers with urethane.
