Brief Description:  Bell crank work

Today I started working on the plane. It was the first official workday since I inventory and organized all my parts. I started with the aileron bell crank assemblies…one for each wing. The WD-421 bell cranks have a bushing that the AN4-32A bolt must pass through. These bushing have to be drilled out since they are smaller than the .250 diameter that the bolts are. I have a drill press but not a portable vice to hold the bushings as I drill. I have decided to take the bushings to work and have them reamed on a lathe. I also had a look to see if any other bushing must be drilled out and I found that the control sticks have the same diameter bushing only shorter. They also use an AN4 bolt so these also must be reamed to size. I disassembled the 2 bushing, as they were tie-wrapped in the control sticks. I might as well do all 4 bushing at once. I might face the bell crank bushing slightly, maybe 1/64 on each side so they will only
protrude beyond the bell crank by 1/64 to 1/32 a side. They are slightly long as they are now. I will see how things go tomorrow.
