What is this and why am I doing it? N214DS is an experimental aircraft, manufactured by Lancair International as a kit in May of 1999. I am the fourth owner but only the second to work on the airplane. The first owner invested 6 years! He passed on a partially completed airplane with outstanding construction and craftsmanship evident throughout. He also passed along an extremely well documented and meticulous construction log. Here in the good old USA, those of us crazy enough to actually build our own airplane are required to maintain a construction log that documents the build. This provides the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with a record of the build that they use to help verify ownership, airworthiness, purpose and intent. This website is my construction log for the completion of N214DS.
