Welcome to my Nexus Mustang Builders Log. The project was started in April of 2010. The Nexus is my second homebuilt project, my first was an RV-4. The RV was completed in 2003 and I currently have about 850 hours on it. When I finished the RV-4 I swore that it was my last homebuilt airplane project since it took me so long to complete, but now many years later, I am ready to dive in again.
I love the RV-4, but if I were to make a few changes they would be
1. A bigger cockpit with room for full sized people.
2. A tapered wing with laminar flow cross section geared a bit more to cross country than short field.
3. Higher cruise speed.
4. A forward baggage compartment to help with CG control.
5. An airplane that is a bit less common than RVs have now become.
The Nexus Mustang is all of those things. Unfortunately it is not available in kit form. So in the true spirit of homebuilding, I am in for a learning experience....again.
