If you've been following this kitlog, I'm pretty sure this posting will come as something of a surprise. After 8 years and 6 months of building and certifying my homebuilt airplane, I've concluded that my greatest joy has been in the creation of this flying machine, not in the act of piloting it. In fact, I've decided that my days as PIC are behind me. For that reason, I was pleased when my hangar mate and his long-time friend expressed an interest in buying N819P. Today we sealed the deal and I walked away knowing that it was in good hands. The extra bonus is that these guys are already good friends of mine and have repeatedly expressed a willingness to take me aloft when I get the itch and our schedules can align.

Let me put to rest a conclusion that some might reach. This is not about any doubts I have about the airworthiness of my project. On the contrary, if I was as convinced of my piloting skills in the congested airspace of Southern California as I am of the project I built, this story might be ending differently. My calculus of risk has nothing to do with the plane and everything to do with me as its pilot.

To those who have actually read every post I've written (believe it or not, a fair number have confessed to that sickness), thank you for your interest and feedback. Good luck with your own building adventure, knowing that with enough persistence and attention to detail, you can will a flying machine into existence. That is no small thing!
