Short Description:  air dams and tailwheel adjust and repair

This is misc work during phase 1 flight testing. No time entered as I dont consider this building. Its more maintenance probably.
During the last 8 flights, the front cylinders have been running 20 degrees hotter than the rear ones. To fix, I put a square of alum sheet behind the dams and marked for a 1/2 inch portion to remove off the top of the dam. The alum sheet is needed to protect the cylinder fins from the dremmel cutting disc. After test flying with this setup, the temps hve moved much closer. The biggest spread is 10 degrees from cylinder 1 to cylinder 4 now. Ill probably tweek it again next time the cowl is off.

The next problem was burned out bearing in tail wheel. I must have tightened the wheel too tight and not put in enough grease. Fellow builder Mike drew the image below for a bushing to be made and installed between the new bearings. Precise measurements required so that the bushing snugs up against the bearings when installed. Too loose and it wont work. Too long and the bearing wont seat all the way. Thanks Mike! Then another friend offered to make the bushing and did a perfect job. Thanks Mark! He even made the center portion wider than the ends so that less greese is required to fill the wheel hub. Sweet! Wheel installed and tightened nut with wrench. The whel spins freely now with no load on the bearings and the nut is way more than just finger tight. I greased with marine greese untill it came out the bearings this time. Pic below is after the flight. Excess spun out.
